Teflon Coating System
Technical Information
About our Teflon Coating Machine
Compact, low pollution machine that enables even, extremely thin PTFE coatings. The magnetron system forms thin Teflon coating films.
This machine uses a DC magnetron system to enable the formation of a thin film coating of metal, metallic nitride and metallic oxide by combining the metal target (titanium, tantalum, tungsten, silver, etc.) of the rainbow colored coating and introduced gases

Use of Teflon Coating Machine
- Low friction coefficient
- Improved releasability
- Chemical and temperature stability
Processing Principles
- Operating gas is introduced into the vacuum chamber. Plasma is created by ionizing the gas through the effects of the high frequency electrical field and the magnetic field.
- The target is then bombarded with the ions from the created gas.
- A thin film is formed by depositing the atoms that have emerged from the surface to the substrate.

Wettability of Teflon thin films and applications
Based on most comparisons, the wettability of Teflon thin films is superior to regular Teflon.
The figure at the top shows a Teflon coated glass substrate onto which drops of water are applied. The bottom figure shows drops of water applied to a regular Teflon board. Surface modification using a Teflon thin film shows chemical and temperature stability as well as a low friction coefficient enabling wider applications.
It is possible to combine the coating with Diamond Like Carbon and titanium nitride.
The coating has superior releasability from polymer materials and acts as a releasing agent for metal dies.
